Welcome to the last edition of Heffron Highlights for 2024.
Next month it’s time to roll out our usual '12 Days of Christmas' series where you’ll receive one of our technical resources each day for the first 12 days of December. Watch out for our FAQs, client guides and more. This has become a very popular part of our program and we’ve been writing new content for months to make sure we have something new for everyone.
But that’s not all we’ve been doing.
We also launched the next in our Super Extension series last month ('Super Extension – Investments'). I’ve been really looking forward to seeing the finished product on this one. Lyn has brought together her decades of experience in answering clients’ questions like “can my SMSF invest in…” and “what do I need to watch out for if….” to create seven great modules.
It was probably the first topic area that really reinforced for both of us how valuable it’s going to be to include the 'In Practice' stream as part of our Extension and Specialist courses. When Lyn was covering limited recourse borrowing, for example, she was able to include lots of practical tips on borrowing within the Extension module itself (as usual) but also spend additional time on some of the more in-depth ones in a separate module called “In Practice”.
Having devoted ourselves to SMSF education for many years, we know the thing it’s hardest to learn from a “book” is the actual tips and traps you encounter when you do things like arrange an LRBA for the first time. We want to share as much of that “inside knowledge” as possible to help our clients reach the level of proficiency they aspire to. The full 'Super Extension – In Practice' topic won’t be out for another 6 months but when it is you’ll see exactly what I mean.
Like our other courses, 'Super Extension – Investments' includes regular quizzes along the way to make sure the material is sinking in as well as plenty of examples we’ve drawn from questions we’ve been asked in the past.
And while Lyn has been focused on 'Super Extension – Investments', I have been in my happy place working on 'Super Specialist – Benefits'. Watch this space as that one will be out before Christmas.
